Closed System Training

The Lost Art of Water Treatment
Proper water treatment practices that were common twenty years ago are now rare. Many Service Providers have entered the market from the water hygiene sector and do not have the background in traditional water treatment. It is not uncommon for us to audit a water treatment Service Provider and find they are testing for two or three analytes with no understanding of what the results mean.

Our closed system training is founded in the British Standard BS8552 - Sampling and monitoring of water from building services closed systems. For water treatment in new builds and precommission cleaning we use the guidance in BSRIA BG29. For buildings in normal operational use we use the guidance in BSRIA BG50. Elements of the ICOMM guide and other BSRIA documents are also drawn on to give an overview the information available.
Training is delivered as a combination of classroom presentation, workshop, discussions and practical hands on demonstration.
Tailored Training for Your Needs
For Service Providers or end users with in-house capability we often help with training for field operatives. This generally starts with a competence assessment to highlight any training needs. The training is then designed to fill these gaps and ensure the tasks can be delivered competently.

Over the last twenty years the level of training delivered in-house by water treatment companies has changed to reflect the guidance available. Many WaterTreatment Service Providers buy in chemicals and have no idea of the strengths and limitations of their products. The level of in-depth understanding of the reasons why certain parts of the guidance exist has not kept up. We help fill this gap for the smaller water treatment Service Providers.
